Adult Choir Information

This season rehearsals begin on Wednesday September 6, 2017 from 7-9 P.M. in the Church. The adult choir sings at the 11:00 A.M. Mass on Sundays, but sing at the 9:30 the second Sunday of each month to allow the children of the parish to sing at the 11 A.M. that day. The adults meet 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass for a warm-up and review. The choir also sings at the Lessons and Carol's service in December as well as Midnight Mass at Christmas.

We are fortunate to have a diverse age group in our adult choir and encourage any young people in High School that enjoy singing to consider joining. Sadly but proudly, we've had to say goodbye to some of our members who have just graduated high school and are off to college! This may also be a fun way to earn service hours toward confirmation!

If you are a skilled instrumentalist who plays in band or orchestra at school I would love to hear from you. It's possible to become involved instrumentally simply playing one or two things during a Mass while building your reading skills and confidence!

This has been a year of change for all of us in West Haven. If you are joining us from another parish and had some experience in another vocal ensemble we'd love to hear from you. We also encourage others who have considered the music ministry to step forward. This will be a year of building and the music will be kept at a moderate level. Anything of considerable difficulty will be handled by "seasoned" members.

However, I do ask that you sing for me privately. I usually have a potential choir member sing "Happy Birthday" just to make sure you can sing in tune and sing a melody against harmony. This also ensures that this is the right ministry for you!
Thank you.

If you have any questions please feel free to leave me a message at the rectory at (203) 934 6357.
Sincerely,
Ed Perez
