Volunteering in Our Parish Ministries

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your service at our parish, and for making a difference in our parish community. We are sincerely thankful for all you time, talent and treasures that you so freely give of yourself through your ministry.

While we truly appreciate your help, to comply with Article 12 of the Charter, the Archdiocese of Hartford has mandated that all employees and volunteers, who have contact with children or vulnerable adults during the scope of their ministry, must attend "Virtus: Protecting God's Children" training session to ensure the well-being and care for all children and vulnerable adults who are entrusted to our care.

As such the parish of Our Lady of Victory will be presenting this workshop on September 23, 2017 in the HALL at St. John Vianney (300 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven.) The workshop begins at 9:00 a.m. and will finish at noon.

It is essential that all employees/volunteers complete the 3-hour workshop in order to receive certification for this requirement, if hasn't completed yet.

Anyone who has received training in a different parish or diocese will not need to attend another session, however a certificate of attendance must be provided to the Office of Safe Environment (Archdiocese of Hartford - Office of Safe Environment, 467 Bloomfield Ave. Bloomfield, CT 06002; or you may drop it off in the rectory to me, and I will forward this on to the Office of Safe Environment.)

If you are unable to attend this workshop please go to the Virtus website at www.virtusonline.org to find a workshop that is more convenient for your schedule. Anyone involved in the following ministries (but not limited to) must attend this workshop: religious education; Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion; lectors; chaperones; choir; nurses; cantors, readers and/or other volunteers.

If you do plan on attending the workshop listed above on September 23rd at SJV, please contact me (Sr. Bea) to register.

In addition to attending this workshop, all personnel are required to submit a background check (Article 13 of the Charter) every ten years. Please contact Sr. Bea for the form, or print it from http://archdioceseofhartford.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/2015myb-bgc-form.pdf After complete the background check form, please return it to the
