Lenten Obligations about fasting and abstinence from meat: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are both days of fasting. For all Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59, we fast those days. This means we have one full meal and two lighter meals, with no eating between meals. (This only applies to people of good health.) Ash Wednesdays and all the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence, meaning that we do not eat meat. The rule applies to all people ages 14 and older. Eggs and fish are allowed. Chicken and poultry are meat!
